PINK SATURDAY ~ WHO STOLE MY BLANKIE???!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone! Thank you so much to our fabulous Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for hosting!

If you haven't already, be sure to pop over to Beverly's blog, say hello, and see all the pinks other bloggers have posted.

My beautiful Mama has knitted for as long as I can remember. Her throws and blankets are coveted in my family and is the one thing that everyone in my family has fought over! A family member will "borrow" another's blanket then refuse to return it and claim it was knit expressly for them. It's Aunties fighting with nephews, nieces pit against uncles; I think you get the picture. Of course, Mama has made so many, she can't recall which one she knit for whom. It is all in good fun. Instead of "Where's Waldo;" it's "Where's My Blankie!" Although, tempers have flarred on occasion! Here is her latest, she knit this for one of my nieces who is 7...

"Hold it up a little higher Mama!"

See the pretty rows of hearts? Too cute! I love how Mama always scallops both of the ends, her signature. My niece picked out the hot pink yarn. If you want Mama to knit you a blankie, you must go with her to pick out your yarn, it is tradition.

I have to show you the throw she created for me. It the softest of pinks and is so plush and warm!

I get chilly when the temperatures drop and my pink blankie keeps my tootsies nice and warm! You can see from the hem how thick it is.

Now, while she was sitting over there finishing up the pretty pink heart blankie, I was sitting under my pretty beach umbrella over here...

Looks like a project! Well, some of you may remember this little tease I posted for Pink Saturday over a month ago.

My work-in-progress little table. (You can view that post here if you like.) I was sitting under my umbrella grouting the mosaic table. Here is what it looks like now....

Guess what! I didn't just mosaic the top; that would be too easy and too...plain for this pretty little table....

I did the sides and the back....

...see how nice and level the top is. I also did the bottom shelf....

smooth to the touch. Loaded with vintage china. The pink is Lu-Ray, there is some Homer Lauaghlin, Mildred, some limoges and pretty pieces of dresden, bavaria. I didn't want to use any glass tiles, I wanted it to have a more "victorian porch" feel. Here is a before and after...

Photobucket

I really am not one to toot my own horn...but...BEEP BEEP! haha!

Sorry, I'm just so happy the first one is finally done! I am way over due on posting my "How to Grout" tutorial for my How To's page.

Now that I have all the photos I can write the tutorial and get it posted in a day or two. I should have the other side table finished by the end of next week.

You are a darling for spending a little time with me today! Thank you so much ;)

I'll be wandering around to see all the pretty pinks the other participants have posted for Beverly's Pink Saturday! Grab a cup of your fav and join us!

Have a lovely weekend!

Your table is GORGEOUS!!!! and I mean GORGEOUS!!! I need to read your tutorials because I have a poor little round table on the patio that is just begging to be mosaic tiled. I'm very intimidated by the process though. You are very very talented. And please tell Mama I have picked out a sweet sweet pink yarn!!! ;) Her blankets are beautiful!!!

I love reading your posts Tina.
The blankie looks soft, warm and cuddly and goes well with your outdoor setting.

I remember your earlier post showing this stool unfinished. It's great to see the finished work ..... and it's absolutely beautiful. I love the touches on the sides. If I tried somehting like this I don't think I'd be able to get the top so level.

You're a very talented lady.

Have a great week.

ciao for now,
Elena :)

Toot away girl friend that table is a Victorian dream as well. The little scallops on the sides are perfect. I really do want to try one, a small project to start.
Enjoyed the funny little family squabbles story.
Now I'm off to find MY buns of steel!

Hi Tina,
Your mother makes the most beautiful throws! I'd love to own one! I love your little table too! Actually, my hubby also likes it. We both oohed and aahed over it! You have every right to be pleased. I am itching to do something with a table of mine but the Island doesn't offer much for mosaic artists. Maybe someday.
Happy Pink Saturday!

I want that gorgeous pink blankie!!! That story was so cute, made me laught too, because I think anyone can relate to that. Your mom does beautiful work and your family is very fortunate that she is able to do that. My mom used to crochet, but no longer can, it bothers her hands and wrist too much. I love the table. You have so much talent, and the pieces you find to use are gorgeous. I never seen china like that when I am out looking. What do you do with all the gorgeous items to make. I would think your neighbors would be lined up down the street wanting it all. Happy Pink Saturday my friend, Char

I know what you mean about the blankies. I just went thru several months of crocheting them. One would see the one I was working on and they would want one. Then I did that one and somebody else wanted one. I made five huge blankies from Dec. to April.

I love love love that table. Great job! *wonders how I can sneak it when your not looking .........giggle.

Tina, where do I start? The knitted throws your mama made are beautiful. I called my mother "mama", too, and she also knitted a throw for me, and although it isn't pink, I treasure it. But when I got to your table, my eyes opened a little wider to take it all in! It's never been a craft I've wanted to pursue, but after seeing your table, I think I have to go to your tutorial and do at least one. If it turns out half as good as yours, I would hope that it becomes an heirloom that someone in my family would treasure! Such a wonderful pink post, as always! Have a fantastic week-end!

Cold, dark, raining all week. Summer is not going to make it to northern Michigan this year. We haven't seen many days over 70! WOWZA! So, with that in mind, Pink Saturday is especially important for me. I sit back and cruise around the blogs filling myself to the brim with my favorite color.

Your mother is SO skilled and patient. Gorgeous work.

What beautiful knitting! how blessed you are to have your mom and that she can still see and has hands able still to knit. I must listen to your tutorial on mosaic table. It is perfect. I've tried one project but used chipped and broken pieces. I see that you are meticulous i how you cut (break?) your dishes and that makes all the difference. Your work is gorgeous. I wish I could drop in and watch you for a few days.
... a few miles separate us. Drat. I'll bookmark your blog and be back.

Hello everyone!
I would like to burn a theme at here. There is such a nicey, called HYIP, or High Yield Investment Program. It reminds of financial piramyde, but in rare cases one may happen to meet a company that really pays up to 2% daily not on invested money, but from real profits.

For several years , I earn money with the help of these programs.
I don't have problems with money now, but there are heights that must be conquered . I get now up to 2G a day , and my first investment was 500 dollars only.
Right now, I managed to catch a guaranteed variant to make a sharp rise . Visit my blog to get additional info.

Good day, sun shines!
There have been times of hardship when I didn't know about opportunities of getting high yields on investments. I was a dump and downright stupid person.
I have never imagined that there weren't any need in large starting capital.
Now, I'm happy and lucky , I started take up real money.
It gets down to choose a proper companion who utilizes your money in a right way - that is incorporate it in real deals, and shares the profit with me.

You can get interested, if there are such firms? I have to answer the truth, YES, there are. Please be informed of one of them:
