TODAY'S THRIFTY TREASURES

Welcome to Today's Thrifty Treasures hosted by the fabulous Rhoda at Southern Hospitality . Thank you Rhoda for hosting! Be sure to view her blog if you haven't already seen it!

I love seeing all the fabulous finds that clever thrifters have scored...don't you?! Grap a cup of java or tea and pop over to Rhoda's to see her fablous finds and use her handy list to pop over to the other participants great deals. The link to Rhoda's post is at the bottom of this post. (I want you to see mine before you go!)

First here is a beautiful chocolate pot with matching cups and saucers (4)...

Photobucket

there is a chip on the lid, so I got the set for $40.00 from craigslist

Found this white soup tureen for $6.00 at a thrift store. Of course it has the ladle! (doing happy dance)

Found this large duckie tureen at the same thrift store for $5.00

Now I have three!

They make me smile!

Now, if you've noticed my dining table is full of things. That's because I've run out of places to store them. So I am on the hunt for a China Hutch. Gave mine away a few years ago to my daugther. I gave here the whole dining room set. Beautiful Link-Taylor. Wouldn't fit in this small place.

This is the one I would love love love to have! Sadly, out of my budget at $299.00

The description says that it's 77" high and 63" wide. Decent size! I love that the shelves can be adjusted at different heights, so you don't have this big long line of china or stemware. Solid wood, made by Thomasville.

I'm going to look at this one tomorrow, it's for $150.00, still a wee bit high from my humble budget. It's 77" high x 62" wide. I love it! I love the open shelf below especially!

The last one is more closer to what I can afford right now; they are asking $85.00. It's smaller at 55" long and 65" high. It's nice, but I'm not crazy about the arrangement of the drawers on the buffet.

Well, I'll let you know what I end up with. I'm in desperate need of something!

Thanks so much for stopping in! Be sure to see the other fabulous finds!

Now pop over to Rhoda's Today's Thrifting Treasures for more fabulous finds!

Happy week to all!

PINK SATURDAY ~ IT'S PARTY TIME PEOPLE!

Happy Pink Saturday everyone! Thank you so much to Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for hosting!

If you haven't already, be sure to pop over to Beverly's blog, say hello, then visit the other participants to view their pink party favors! I've put a link after my party favor; of course I want you to see mine first! ;-)

As some of you know, I've been falling way behind on my duties because I've been blogging! lol! So I spend the good part of this week trying my best to catch up. I've made some progress. (emphasis on "some")

Since I've been such a good girl working so diligently to (try) and catch up, all the really fun stuff like putting together fun eye candy for all you crazy party bloggers had to take a back seat.

However, with all that nonsense said, I did manage a to sneak in a few minutes to put a little something together that you may enjoy.

Without further ado....photo #1

What's that you say, no pink in the photo? ...keep looking...

Can you see the pink? No? Sorta? Kinda? Well, how about now....

Better yes? That's one of the things I've been doing this week. It's not grouted yet. I still have to mosaic the bottom shelf then I need to mosaic it's twin. Then I'll grout both.

Speaking of mosaics, if you are interested in gaining some tips and tricks, be sure to check my How To's located on the top of the left margin. Just click on the topic of interest!

Now for some pretty flowers from my container garden. First my strawberry pot filled with impatients....

Next we have some pretty in pink geraniums.....

Photobucket

Followed by my pink hydragena (it's finally starting to bloom yeahh!)

Well that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed my humble offerings for this Pink Saturday! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Be sure to pop over to Beverly's Pink Saturday Party and view the other goodies!

Enjoy your weekend!

THURSDAY BLOG PARTIES - THRILL OF THRIFTING!

It's party time again! Woohoo! Don't you just love these wonderful parties! This is my first Thrifty Thursday!

I want to thank both Leigh at Tales From Bloggeritaville and Holly at Homebody for being such a lovely host! Make sure you pop on over to her blog and say hello.

Before I show my finds, just a little explanation. I only started blogging mid-May. I was so green, I didn't know anyone or anything! I had no idea there were such things as these fabulous blog parties! Long story short, I posted my finds and no one found me lol!

So I gonna show a few of those items again only because I have nooooo time this weeks and the photos are already uploaded! I promise fresh finds next week...(got some really fabulous finds to share then! ;-)

Ok, well lets get this virtual party started!

I love white soup tureens; but I am picky, I won't just buy any...I want the matching lid and ladle. I've passed up many a pretty one because no ladle. I found one at a nearby thrift store for $8.99! No hallmark, but it's very heavy and thick! No chip, cracks, crazing or hallmark. That makes this one a keeper!

Picked up this darling white duckie casserole for $6.99, no hallmark, very thick and heavy, it's little and so adorable!

and I found this darling pretty in aqua and pink figuriene, she was the same price as the first soup tureen at $8.99

She has a mark on the bottom, but I don't recognize it, it looks like two sabers crossed. If anyone out there knows the mark, I'd be grateful to know who made this.

I almost forgot, one more soup tureen! This one is whimsical. I came across in either TJ Maxx or Marshalls a while back and I could not resist it.

Photobucket Photobucket

Paid 9.99 for it. I love it's quirkiness and the detail. Underneath it is hallmarked handmade in Portugal. The best part of it was the fish ladle.

I thought it would great at my beach house (just dreaming now). Hey, if you dream it, it will come...yes? lol

Now, if anyone out there recognizes the mark on the bottom of that figuriene, please do let me know!

Don't forget to check out my How To blog (topic list are at the top of the left margin)!

Oh, and don't forget to pop back over the Leigh's Thrifty Thrusday #23 and to Holly's Thrift Store Thursday to see all the other fabulous finds!

Happy hunting!

TABLESCAPE THRUSDAY - SOMETHING I WANT TO TRY

Welcome everyone! Thank you to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting this weekly event!

My contribution this week is not of my own creation, but something I've been trying to do. If you of you have any ideas, please please *fluttering eyelashes* please helppppp! I would like to create this centerpiece for a special dinner.

I probably should have taken pictures of my total failures but I could not face the shame! lol

I have the tall thin glass vases, it's the getting it to look beautiful that I'm have a wee bit of trouble with. The other barrier I hit was that I couldn't find floating candles. I went all over! So if you have any suggestions where I might find some I'd really appreciate it!

I love this look, so shimmery and elegant. I was experimenting with different colors and materials. The white is pretty for weddings, anniversaries, new year's eve, etc. But I wanted to compliment the seasons, I want some color. I love the combination of the flowers and the candles.

Photobucket

This next one, I love the flowers inside the water, but how on earth do they keep them from floating about and not becoming over saturated with water.

Again, any helpful hints will greatly appreciated!

Thank you for stopping by. Be sure to see all the fabulous tablescapes from the many very talented and clever participants!

Back to Susan's Tablescape Thursday participant's list!

Enjoy!

THREE OR MORE TUESDAY ~ MY FIRST

Here I go again! I've found another fun blog party! I love the whole concept of three or more. Don't ask my why...I've not a clue! lol

Kudo to the host, Tam of
Gypsy's Corner! Be sure to stop by her blog to see her wonderful offering as well as the lovely party favors offered by the other participants!

If you are new to blog parties, you are welcome to join in, even if you don't have a post. Just click the link at the bottom of this post that will take you right to Tam's party list of participants!

Without further ado, my first Three or More Tuesday offerings!

We begin with three whimsical china mosaic stepping stones. I created these for a customer who wanted me to repurpose their three kitty chef ceramic trivets.

Followed three more of my creations. Three Vintage Button Mosaics photo frames and a darling baby birdhouse.

I used vintage adderley china roses on two, a vintage flower pin on one. The Little birdhouse is perched on top a crystal candleholder. The pearls are a combination of glass and faux.

Last, I offer three generations. This was taken in April. That's me on the left, my amazing and beautiful Mama (she's 83 years young!) in the middle, and my amazing and beautiful daughter on the right.

Thank you so much for viewing my offerings! Please be sure to pop back over to Tam's party list of Three or More Tuesday to see more wonderful offerings!

Enjoy!

BLOG PARTY ~ TODAY'S THRIFTY TREASURES AND BLUE MONDAY!

Last week was incredibly busy here. I've been so excited about my new favorite past time, blogging, I've fallen way behind on everything else! Plus, I've been fighting off a flu, it's winning. So I'm a bit under the weather this weekend.

As some of you already know, I love blog parties! As I've partied about, I've noticed that several have combined the blog party of the day. So, I thought I'd give it a go.

I've wanted to participate in Blue Monday hosted by SmilinSally and I love participating in Today's Thrifty Treasures every Monday, hosted by Rhoda at Southern Hospitality. Since the themes for Monday coveres both blue and fabulous finds, I've combined them.

If you are new to blog parties and would like to see what all the excitement is about, I've included a link at the bottom of this post that will take you to the hosts' post that also includes a list of all the participants! Give it a go, you'll love all the wonder posts that each participant contributed! You get loads of idea and do a lot of ohhh and awww; and see some creative and fabulous blogs!

Without further ado, I present my first Blue Monday and Today's Thrifty Treasures!

First are my Three Wise Monkeys.

I first picked up two of them at Ross ($3.99 each) when I lived in Texas a few years back. I search all over the store for the third, but they only had the two. So, not really knowing why, I bought them. All the while I wished I had the third. As fate would have it, I went back a couple of weeks later and there was the third one(also $3.99). I was shocked, it was the exact one I needed. No other ones around, just that one. About a year later, after I moved back to the SF bay area, I went to the nearby Ross store and came across the stand ($2.99) which I knew would suit them perfectly!

Last wednesday, I went to the Salvation Army and picked up a set of blue transferware plates. I paid more than I wanted, but I knew they wouldn't reduce the price for 30 days. Chances of this set lasting that long was highly unlikely.

The dinner plates were 4.99 and the others were 2.99 each, they had four of each. They only had three sets cups and saucers and those were $4.99 a set.

Now some of you may remember this little ceramic vase

I mentioned that I tried all sorts of colors, aqua, sage, pink, antique white...I promised I would reveal the final color, so here is what I chose...Tah-Dah!

To see Ceramic Vase Makeover pop over to my How To page. The inspiration for the color was this pretty metal pitcher I picked up ages ago. I remember it was under $5.00.

Thanks so much for stopping by and viewing my parties favors!

Be sure to stop by Today's Thrifty Treasures and say hello to Rhoda and view other fabulous finds and also go see SmilinSally's Blue Monday for lots of pretty blues and all the lovely blue contributors blogs!

Enjoy!
