Happy Pink Saturday everyone!

I'm sure that some of you may have noticed the straw hat I made in the right margin photos. I was babysitting my adorable little nice one day and she asked me if I could make her one just like it.

I thought it would be a better idea if she made one for herself; with Auntie's help of course. She picked out the faux flowers, the ribbon, the pretty sparkly butterfly, and design it herself (I glued them on)l

Her inspiration, my straw hat...

Her design....

She didn't want to wait for me to buy a plain straw hat that was more her size. She said..."I'm still growing!" Good point. lol! Her butterfly focal.....

"Take my picture and be sure you get the flower in my hand...."

She insisted that she must hold one of the flowers in her hand so she will match her pretty straw hat. Now a pretty pose....

These were taken last winter. Her straw hat is hanging on her bedroom wall. No one is allowed to touch it. lol.

OUTDOOR WEDNESDAY ~ MY FIRST!

Welcome to my first Outdoor Wednesday! Thank you so much to our gracious and thoughtful host, Susan of A Southern Daydreamer !

Some of the homes you will be tour is from Pink Saturday. It was suggested that I post a few for Outdoor Wednesday. Since I already have the photos, I thought I'd give it a go.

Today we have have a mini-tour of quaint neighborhood in Burlingame, CA.

Burlingame, California is located approximately 15 minutes south of San Francisco. It is part of the area known as the Peninsula. The Peninsula is coveted for it's close proximity to SF and the airport (no bridges to cross). It is nestled between the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Downtown Burlingame is known for it's upscale dining and boutiques; a place to see and be seen; I'll give you a tour of it's downtown area in the near future.

The prices in this neighborhood are mid-range; varying from $750,000 up to $1.3 mil. The different styles of the homes you will see are fairly typical in this neighborhood.

We begin our tour through this tree lined stree; typical for this neighborhood.

Isn't that so pretty. Was a fairly warm day, about 85 degrees, but on this pretty street the temperature was 70 degrees!

This next house is my favorite! I could spend the rest of my days there!

I just love an ivy covered cottage! Isn't that just lovely!? *sigh* I couldn't get any side photos because of the trees.

Now, just a few doors down, there sits this lovely home.....

a mediterranean style house, lots of great details! Did you notice the flagstone steps iron railing? There is a balcony over the garage door. Too bad they didn't match the railings. But that can be very pricey. Fabulous cathedral shaped window, and I love the little entry window next to it. Great chimney cap. This is a decent size house. Here's a side view, notice the 2nd floor and see how far back this house goes...

Next, just a couple doors down I've dubbed this the hobbit house....

Isn't it so charming? So much detail, the brick walk and brick foundation, the leaded glass windows, the turret entry, the little rooster weathervane, the little cottage shaped mailbox, the fence, the chimney cap, so adorable!

This next one is such a darling yellow cottage! Notice the touch of whimsy on the mailbox and the street lamp behind the darling white picket fence....

The mail box has these large yellow, pink and lavender daisies all over it! Here's a closer view....

This is a corner house, so I got a photo of the side gate.....

Too charming! Looks as though we are way out in the wine country, yet we are in the burbs and only a few minutes from SF.

This last cottage is difficult to see as it was covered in foiliage, particularly this pretty...

Love how the bougainvillea curves around the arch of the window. The house is a pale yellow textured stucco with blue trim! Here's the front door....

We now exit though another lovey tree lined street....

I'VE BEEN TAGGED! ~ 10 THINGS ABOUT ME

Well, I did do a 100 things about me several weeks ago. I'm not sure if that was a tag or a chain-email.

I have been officially tagged this time by the talented and clever Caroline of Forever Vintage.

I am struggling to find 10 somethings about me that wasn't covered. So this is the best I can do. (Nothing earth shaking!)

1. My favorite soda is Black Cherry Soda, the leaded not the unleaded. I only buy a six pack once a month; only during summer.

2. I love cold coffee with a milk, no sugar. (we drink 1% in our house). Drink it almost every morning, except when it gets really cold in the winter. Then I'll have hot coffee.


3. My favorite coffee is Pete's Espresso Forte.


4. I've mentioned before, I only use white sheets and white down comforters on my bed; I didn't mention that my bath towels and bath mats are all white as well. (I must have a bath mat when I step out of the shower or tub. (It's too icky to just step onto the cold tile or bath rug...I'm quirky that way! lol)

5. My favorite floral print is Ralph Lauren's Allison. I only use it on my shams, pillowcases, and my dust ruffle; everything else is white. Including my Euro pillow shams.

6. I would choose a 6oz filet mignon over a decadent piece of cake.

7. I prefer hot tea over hot coffee.

8. My favorite bathrobe is my lush terrycloth mickey mouse robe, yep, it too is all white; see photo. I only use for bathing, it is so soft yet very absorbent. I have other robes for cozing around the house.

9. My tiny kitchen is black and white. White walls, white cabinets, black granite tile counter top.

10. My bedroom walls are the palest of pink above the chair rail and soft white below.

PINK SATURDAY ~ PRETTY COTTAGE HOMES

Ok, those of you who are getting to know me, it goes without saying that I can be a bit of a boob sometimes...I openly admit to that. But, sometimes I am spot on. Well, this ain't one of those times. lol!

When I was trying to do the garage sale thingy one day, I took a right instead of a left (no big surprise there), long story shorter, I came across this adorably quaint little neighborhood, tree lined streets and several pink stucco homes. Did I have my camera with me? Of course not you silly!

But, I went back there...well, I tried to get back there. Couln't find it. So, you'll have to make due with what I have to offer. I promise there will be pink! Some very pretty pink! Just not every shot. But I think you'll likey anyway.

I present a quaint neighborhood in Burlingame, CA.

First, we start with..PINK! This was the ONLY one that had actual pink pink not pinky peach!

You can't see through the foliage, but the porch and door trim are pink as well. I was a bit disappointed that the door wasn't pink as well. However they made up for it because just to the right....this is growing......

It's full of pinks, lavenders, white. Don't you just want to sneak over and cut a bunch for your vase! I know what you are thinking, I was tempted, but I didn't. Did I mention the big dog barking in the side yard?

Next....this one is pinky peachy color, BUT look at the aqua trim! (I'm a sucker for pink & aqua!)

Even the door is aqua! Bravo! lol (it's the little things in life....yes?). Maybe it's a work in progress. Enough said! Now, I promised you tree lined streets....get a gander at this!

See the patched up street...earthquakes. No, I honestly don't know, maybe earthquakes, or cheap asphalt, bad workmanship. Let's move on to this beautiful ivy cottage!

Isn't that just lovely!? And there are some pink flowers in the front behind the hedge. Now, just a few doors down, there sits this lovely.....

There is some pink, on the roof tiles and the flowers. I just love this mediterranean style house, great details! Did you notice the balcony over the garage door? And just look at that cathedral shaped window...so fabulous, see the chimney cap. This is a decent size house. Here's a side view, notice the 2nd floor and see how far back this house goes...

So cute! Looks like it should be set out in the country, but us Californians want our cake and eat it too! lol just kidding.

This last house, you really can't see much of it because it is covered by lots of pretties, particularly this pretty.....

That bougainvillea is so beautiful! See the blue trim, too cute! Here's the front door....

The little bunny cracks me up. I don't know if it's meant as a welcome or as a deterrent. oops did I type that out loud? I love the pale pink rose bush (looks white from the sun)! Blue trim on the door as well....ok, here's the full view of the front....

Ok, last pink...this house was just the average style, but the bougainvillea is so florcent....

See told you I had some pinks, nanner nanner. Now before you go, just have to share this with you! You have to read this before the last photo!

There was this pretty house, such a beautiful front yard. I took a shot from the car, then got out to get pics of the rose bushes, just as I'm about to take a shot, a tiny little old asian man that could barely speak english came "old man trotting" toward me waving his garden spade and yelling, "YOU NO DO! NO DO! YOU BAD! BAD" I tried to explain..."I no bad, I'm a blogger, I won't show your address, no Sir, I am not looking to cut your bushes...". At that point, jumping in my car and speeding off made more sense! So here's the photo I got before he chased me away!

I'm still laughing! The photo doesn't really show how beautiful the front garden is. I love how (he) filled the sidewalk with Agapanthus. Homeowners are responsible for the sidewalks in front of their homes.

TABLESCAPE THURSDAY ~ THERE'S ALWAYS A PLAN B

Welcome everyone! I'm so thrilled you stopped by!

Thank you to Susan at Between Naps on the Porch for hosting this fun weekly event!

Time is flying by! My son is leaving the nest to start his life. He's off to college come fall. I am so excited, hopeful, and very happy for him. Why do they grow so fast? I miss my little one so much, yet so anxious to see the man he will become. (I'm tearing....again!).

Anyway, we don't always have too many opportunities to dine with just each other.

Yesterday, opportunity knocked and I prepared an impromptu summer meal just for the two of us. Tablescape Thursday had nothing to do with it....that's my story and I'm sticking to it! ;)

I originally planned an alfresco meal, but the wind was not cooperating. Without further ado...my plan B.

Lets see, that's forks on the left, spoons and knives on the right....yes?

Yikes! Is it me or does it look like everything in going out the window? Or is that coming in through the window? I need a plan C lol!

Awww much better...

The stainless steel tableware is Cambridge Silversmiths LTD., Cleopatra Clear. I got a 20 piece for $9.99. I've only found the one set though and have been hunting for at least 1 more set. Love how you can see the table cloth thru them. The pink plates and pink bowls are Bordallo Pinherio.

Next is one of my favorite pitchers. It's Pinherio Bordallo too. Ross, $4.99. Love the daises, too cute. Aqua and pink complement each other so beautifully. My beautiful daughter gave me the beautiful pink roses "cuz I wuv you mama...."

The pink crystal stemware is a recent thrift store find; $7.00 for 4. The crystal goblets were another deal, $2.00 each, there were 6.

While I'm on the subject of fabulous finds....the metal jardiniere was $2.99. I gave it a shabby aqua makeover. The two porcelain kitty cats were $1.00 each. They were hidious! But I saw potential. Used my can-o-spray paint and *presto* my two staffordshire cats! lol! I still have to paint their noses and the inside of their ears pale pink. If it looks stupid, I'll just get my can-o-spray paint and *presto* blanc de blanc.

Doesn't the cat on right look as though it is sniffing the hydrangeas? lol

The candle holders all came from Smith & Hawkens, 75% off.

I've had them for a couple of years now so I don't know exactly what I paid. I just remember the 75% off! lol

Now, for this evenings summer meal we have a lovely tossed leafy salad......

And a summery fruit salad.....

We are being good....yes? Ummm noooo......

A lovely Strawberry cream filled shortcake. Guaranteed to add 2 pounds per bite! Doesn't that look so scrumptious tough?!

I'm trying to decide if I want the fruit or the vegies first.....

I know what my son will be eyeballing.....

One upside to living on a hill is that I feel like I'm living in a tree house....or in my case, birdhouse lol......

Ok, last look then ya gots ta go....my son is coming down to join me and I've got to hide the camera!
