HOW TO TRANSFORM A SMALL TRADEGY INTO TERRIFIC ~ THE TALE OF THE TUREEN!

A fractured fairy tale or...to trash or to transform!

Turbert the Tureen sat proudly in Tina's hutch....

Although he was full of dust and such,
Turbert the Tureen never said "don't touch"

When she took him down to for a good clean
Off his crown flew from Turbert the Tureen

Even with all her epoxy and glue
His broken crown she couldn't renew
Oh poor, poor little Tina what was she to do?

Her adored Turbert no longer had his crown
Sad, sad Tina, she was so down
How could she ever turn this tradegy around?

Well darling, when life gives one chicken poopoo...

make a fabulous chicken salad, of course! ;)

Next time something crashes miserably into pieces,
transform it's beauty, it's value increases.
And now my darlings, my tale, it ceases.

(back away from the rhyme website Tina!) lol!

When they say hardwood floor...they mean HARD wood floor! ha!

I've had that tureen....well, forever.

Farewell poor Turbert the Tragic Tureen, for now I have gorgeous Jasper the Jardiniere. Cest la vie!

Hope you are having a lovely week!

  1. Too bad about your tureen.
However, now you have it out all done up with flowers and a new found use.
You might enjoy finding unexpected treasures to place in there...for something fresh!

  10. Dear Tina:
Thanks for the tale of Turbert who broke his crown.
It could have been an ending that really put Tina down.
But being the creative girl you are
You did what others wouldn't dare.
    You turned that broken Turbert
    Into Jardiniere!
Now, instead of chicken "poo poo,"
YOu have a Jasper "foo foo."
Good for you! Sincerely, Susan (lol)

  12. Isn't it too bad someone didn't rescue Humpty Dumpty by sticking some flowers in his head??

  13. Oh, that looks wonderful~! Yes, never throw anything like that out there is always something you can do with it.

  14. Darn....I'm so sorry you broke old Turbert...but happy to see he is EVER so cute as a vase. LOVE it.

  15. That was hysterical!

You know - no one's going to see the inside of the lid. If it's porcelain use epoxy or Crazy Glue, if stoneware use Elmer's, and tape the cracks with duct tape!

I take with me your live and let live cheerful resolution!

  28. love it, love it, love it!! It hits the spot for me, Tina. I was in my craft room last week and somehow lost the beautiful top to a glass apothacary jar. I'm still finding pieces on the floor to it. I haven't even shown it to ya'll yet and he's lost his top hat. lol

  31. That's too cute...but you are so right...when an accident occurs if you can keep you head. ou can usually turn it into something fabulous that you never would have thought of other wise.

  32. I know the feeling--I just broke one of my favorite antique ironstone platters. It's not like they're 15 more in the china hutch, it's that you broke one of them you loved. I've saved my broken pieces and plan to make a mosaic tray or something of that nature! It was a HUGE 18" platter so I'll have to come up with an even bigger way to continue to love it!

  35. Hi Tina,

Just popping in to say Hello and to wish you a fabulous week and great weather.♥

You definitely know how to transform anything as far as I've seen..I finally made it over to a Hobby Lobby and got so distracted by some crowns that I found that I forgot to look for the Robin's Egg blue spray paint! Oh well...another reason to go back. :0)

It's Mosaic Monday at my place if you'd like to come take a peek.

    Hugs,
    Stephanie ♥

  38. My tureen cover for my Apple Franciscanware broke over 30 years ago. What a dark day since it totally shattered and was unfixable. You have made your tureen so beautiful just simply by rethinking its use.

  39. Oh Tina, poor Turbert :-( But what a beautiful transformation. He now has a new look, use and life as Jasper the Jardiniere. Hurray! It looks fantabulous my friend. Cute post...Loved it! Have a wonderful day.

Cute story and so creative! I thought maybe you had made a mosaic out of it, but when I saw the flowers I said " now that's a great idea and so pretty"

  48. Tina, what a sad tail, but glad you could give it a happy ending. It's so frustrating to break a long admired piece of china or pottery. One's heart sinks! You definitely made this into a happy ending though. Turbert looks quite content with the new roll. Oh, and by the way, you are definitely a talented poet!
Still holding my gift card. Need some time to drive out to a Target. Hope to do that in the next week or so. I'm so thrilled to have won your generous gift. I'll let you and the others in Blogville know what I come home with. :-)
Hope you are having a delightful weekend. ~ Sarah

    Good job!

Hope all is well in your world. I had a bit of a tumble myself, and I am pretty sore. Fortunately, my top didn't break, but it's a miracle it didn't. ;-)

    Sheila :-)

  55. your creamy tureen is beautiful..it had a mind of it's own asking you in it's own unique way it was time for it to take on a new life. I see a lot of potential...not only does it embrace your beautiful flowers but..it can hug soft fluffy white hand towels...chuncky soap...hold ice for a romantic dinner for two or even roll some magazines a place on a reading table. The uses are endless!
